Director of Middle School
The Archdiocese of St. Louis, in partnership with the School of Education at Saint Louis University, invites applications for the position of Director of Middle School at St. Louis Catholic Academy. The Director will set an innovative vision for the middle school, oversee curriculum development and implementation of high-quality instruction, and supervise the middle school faculty and support staff. This is position reports directly to the Head of School at St. Louis Catholic Academy and partners with the Saint Louis University School of Education.
The successful candidate will have a full-time 12-month contract starting July 1, 2024, with additional compensation for work completed prior to July 1.
Responsibilities: The successful candidates will have an opportunity to:
  • Work with the Head of School and the Saint Louis University School of Education to set and carry forth an innovative vision for the middle school.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of a rigorous, culturally responsive curriculum for middle school students.
  • Lead middle school faculty in the implementation of developmentally appropriate, research-based, best in practice instructional strategies.
  • Provide professional learning and facilitate professional learning communities for middle school faculty.
  • Create and lead a positive school culture rooted in Catholic identity and research-based restorative justice disciplinary practices.
  • Collaborate with Access Academies to provide additional high school preparatory support.
  • Serve as a faith leader along with other school administrators.
  • Work with parents, caregivers, and families to ensure the academic success of their children.
  • Provide leadership in other areas that leads to the success of the middle school students.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Qualifications and Experience:
Required
  • Commitment to becoming an expert in middle level education.
  • Five or more years of teaching experience in a Catholic school.
  • At least two years of educational leadership experience.
  • Experience educating middle school students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovation and social justice.
  • Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Preferred
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting assessment data for continuous school and program improvement.
  • Knowledge of recent trends in Catholic education as they pertain to mentoring teachers, curriculum, instruction, teacher education, innovation, justice, and educational equity.
  • Knowledge and capability with technologies in education.
  • Commitment to and experience partnering with families, the Archdiocese, Saint Louis University, and other organizations.
  • Flexibility and resiliency.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.
Context:
Salary and Starting Date: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and education. The successful candidate will have a full-time 12-month contract starting July 1, 2024, with additional compensation for work completed prior to July 1.
