Job Description:

The Assistant High School Volleyball Coach will assist the Head Volleyball Coach in all aspects of coaching, training, and managing the high school volleyball program. This position will play a key role in player development, team strategy, and fostering a positive and competitive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in Practice Planning and Execution
    • Assist in planning and conducting team practices.
    • Work with individual players on skill development and technique.
    • Set up and organize drills that focus on specific skills and team strategies.
  2. Game Day Duties
    • Assist the Head Coach during games with strategy, substitutions, and player management.
    • Provide feedback and encouragement to players during games.
    • Help set up and take down equipment before and after games.
  3. Player Development
    • Identify areas for individual player improvement and work on skill development.
    • Conduct individual or small group training sessions outside of regular practice times.
    • Monitor and track player progress throughout the season.
  4. Team Building and Leadership
    • Assist in fostering a positive team culture and environment.
    • Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline among players.
    • Assist in resolving conflicts or issues within the team.
  5. Scouting and Strategy
    • Assist in scouting opposing teams to identify strengths, weaknesses, and game strategies.
    • Collaborate with the Head Coach to develop game plans and strategies.
    • Analyze game footage to provide insights and feedback to players.
  6. Communication
    • Maintain open and clear communication with players, parents, and coaching staff.
    • Attend team meetings, parent meetings, and coaching staff meetings as required.
    • Provide regular updates to the Head Coach on player performance, team progress, and any issues or concerns.
Qualifications:
  • Previous coaching experience in volleyball is preferred.
  • Knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and coaching staff.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for coaching and player development.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire players.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass a background check.
Working Conditions:
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends for practices, games, and tournaments.
  • Ability to travel for away games and tournaments.
  • Physical ability to demonstrate drills and assist with player training.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment as needed.
