Education and Experience:
- Licensed to teach in at least grades 7-8 in the state of MO
- Preference given to those with experience facilitating student learning in an activity, project, and problem based (APB) learning environment
- Preference given to those experienced in leading students in hands-on collaborative groups related to engineering or designing solutions
- Current PLTW Gateway Certification(s) would be a plus (Design and Modeling, Computer Science for Innovators and Makers, Automation and Robotics)
Essential Job Functions:
- Applicants must be willing to attend at least 2 Project Lead the Way core training courses in order to receive the necessary certification required to teach assigned courses. *Successful completion of all trainings are required to retain this position.
- Be willing to attend and implement addition PLTW training as needed
- Effectively use multiple types of collaborative student groups to teach students essential collaboration, teamwork, and problem solving skills
- Apply the use of digital or physical notebooks for documentation of student work
- Create a clear connection between course content and real world applications through exploration of engineering concepts
- Meet and collaborate as requested with other PLTW instructors in the district to develop student recognition initiatives and align curriculum
- Use the my.PLTW.org website to access digital curriculum
- Roster all students into the my.PLTW.org website
- Work to find ways to enhance the curriculum through introduction of real world problems and parent/community involvement
- Provides effective and timely feedback to students in order to ensure student growth
- Utilizes various assessments as necessary based on the needs of students and reports these results to parents on a regular basis
- Establishes classroom procedures and guidelines that provide the students with the greatest opportunity to learn and grow within the project and problem based learning environment
- Maintain a clean and organized lab/classroom area that is safe for students and staff to work
- Other duties, as assigned
