Role Overview
The Assistant Literacy Dean drives teacher and student outcomes in early literacy for Atlas Elementary. In partnership with the larger leadership team, the Assistant Literacy Dean will co-own the design, management, and execution of our literacy program, ensuring we are providing high-quality literacy instruction to all of our students, and supporting our teachers to do so effectively. 
In this role, you will:
  • Co-own program design and program goals with the Literacy Dean. 
  • Ensure that curriculum and pedagogy are grounded in the Science of Reading across all of our classrooms.
  • Lead implementation of our high-quality curricula, CKLA and EL Education. 
  • Plan and lead weekly grade-level meetings.
  • Plan and implement professional development for teachers during intersession.
  • Coach classroom teachers in curriculum implementation and data-driven instruction through ongoing informal and formal observations. 
  • Create data-driven action plans that promote student achievement in word recognition, language comprehension, and writing and ensure that instruction is driving equitable outcomes.
  • Observe instructional practices in schools to identify and address curriculum design and professional development strengths and gaps.
  • Design structures and systems for classroom teachers to support content knowledge development and curriculum implementation.
  • Engage in other activities that support the growth and development of Atlas, such as writing grants, attending family engagement events, and interviewing potential teachers.

In order to teach at Atlas Public Schools, you must:
  • Provide an official transcript demonstrating graduating from an undergraduate institution
  • Provide evidence of passing the Elementary Education Multi-Content MEGA test including each of the following subtests:
    • 007 Elementary Education: English Language Arts Subtest
    • 008 Elementary Education: Mathematics Subtest
    • 009 Elementary Education: Science Subtest
    • 010 Elementary Education: Social Studies Subtest 
  • Pass a background check complete Family Care Safety Registry
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States
