Job Description:
  NOTE:  This position is for the 2024-2025 school year. The salary will be based on the 2024-2025 salary schedule which is not yet approved by the Board of Education. The salary listed is based on the current year's salary schedule. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Certification for Speech and Language - Assistant
  2. Experience in designated field
 JOB GOAL:
      To support students who are eligible for speech and language services under IDEA and provide each student under their case management responsibilities with a program that will enable the student to reach his or her fullest potential in the areas of speech and language, under the guidance of an SLP
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist teachers in observing speech and language skills, implementing strategies, and referring students suspected of having speech and language disorders.
  2. Support with written individualized educational plans (IEP) for speech and language disordered students with parental input at the IEP meeting.
  3. Provide appropriate individualized therapy to meet needs of speech and language disordered students.
  4. Prepare home programs for parent participation in the remediation process.
  5. Support SLP to fulfill state mandated case manager responsibilities for single discipline speech and language cases.  Responsibilities include: contacting parents, scheduling and conducting all IEP and parent meetings, informing parents of their procedural safeguards and completing state required procedures and paperwork for initial or transfer placements, three-year evaluations, and dismissals.
  6. Maintain therapy records documenting student progress.
  7. Compile and report caseload data to the Director of Special Education for district and state reports.
  8. Send quarterly reports to parents regarding speech and language progress,under SLP guidance.
  9. Collaborate with and serve as a resource to school staff members in the area of speech and language development, classroom strategies, and services available.
  10. Administer hearing screenings at the district annual developmental readiness screening program.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 
      7 hours/day; 188 days/school year

Min & Max Starting Salary:  $41,543.00 - $73,658.00
 
FLSA:  Exempt
 
CLEARANCES:  Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
