Primary Objective: Position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing that are fundamental to effective communication and literate citizenship; that develops appreciation of good literature of all types; that motivates students to read widely for information and recreation; that develops standards for critical judgment of written and oral communications transmitted by mass media; and that discovers and develops special talents of students in the field of English.

Essential Functions
- Teach subject area according to curriculum guidelines specified by the school district.
- Maintain ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students.
- Collaborate with other faculty in delivery of proper instructional approaches, working to serve the various learning styles and needs.
- Implement curriculum and instruction in a way consistent with District's mission statement.
- Show empathy for and understanding of students.
- Share ideas and observations with students, parents and colleagues.
- Develop with parents and students a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity.
- Facilitate resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents.
- Assess student performance often and objectively.
- Continue intellectual and professional development in primary academic discipline.
- Follow guidance and policies established by the Board of Education.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's Degree
- Missouri Teacher Certification (9-12 English)
