Job Description:
REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Valid Missouri Special Education Teacher Certification
 
SUPERVISES:
  1. Students assigned directly
  2. Other Osage County R-II students
 
REPORTS TO:
  1. Building Principal
  2. Special Education Director
 
JOB GOALS:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Implement the policies of the Board of Education.
  2. Communicate appropriately with supervisors, other employees, students, and visitors.
  3. Maintain a friendly and helpful environment.
  4. Maintain an acceptable standard of personal appearance.
  5. Obtain/maintain full state certification for assigned subject areas.
  6. Teach within the course of study for his/her grade level/subject area as prescribed by the state or adopted by the school district.
  7. Implement lessons which support the state-mandated courses, the state's tested curriculum, and locally- determined courses.
  8. Provide a variety of planned learning experiences using a variety of media and methods, including alternative intervention strategies, in order to motivate students and best utilize available time for instruction.
  9. Evaluate, record, and report student academic and social growth within the guidelines prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district.
  10. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior through efficient classroom management procedures.
  11. Identify areas of student concern and cooperate with other professional staff members in addressing those areas of concern.
  12. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
  13. Be available for students and parents before and after school.
  14. Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs as required by district policy and state guidelines.
  15. Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of classroom field trips.
  16. Maintain professional competence through professional development
activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
  1. Develop responsible citizens who have competent social and everyday living skills.
  2. Develop independent critical thinkers who are competent writers, speakers, and listeners.
  3. Participate in the identification of at -risk and gifted students and implement steps to meet their individual needs,
  4. Help students become proficient in using basic technological equipment.
  5. Teach from materials which reflect multi-cultural, non-gender-biased, and global experiences.
  6. Plan appropriately for substitutes, paraprofessionals, and others who assume responsibilities in his/her classroom.
  7. Participate cooperatively with the principal in accordance with the district’s teacher evaluation process.
  8. Assume responsibility for tasks other than those listed which may be assigned by a supervisor.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  1. 147 School Days
  2. 10 Contracted PD days
  3. 7 Paid Holidays (Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, December 24, December 25, December 31, and January 1)
