The Raymore-Peculiar School District is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Special Education Instructional Coach. The primary role will be to work with special education staff to support best practices in using data, provide analysis of specially designed instruction and make recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Research and provide staff support that will enhance teaching and learning, including teaching strategies, assessment skills, interpretation and use of assessment results.
  • Research, provide information and model a range of effective and innovative instructional practices through various activities such as:  discussions (informal and formal), coaching sessions, co-teaching, collaboration, and professional development opportunities.
  • Observe instructional delivery and provide feedback.
  • Assist special education staff in building an interactive classroom and assure that recommendations for improvement are implemented.
  • Serve as a resource in identifying appropriate specially designed instruction strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students.
  • Assist teachers in the classroom implementation of instructional practices aligned to state and local standards.
  • Analyze data in order to adjust curriculum and instruction to meet students’ needs.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff, designated special education staff and administrators on a variety of topics including curriculum, learning/instruction, data and classroom culture/management.
  • Help teachers develop student and classroom academic/management according to IEPs.
  • Supporting teachers, both new and experienced, in the implementation of established IEP goals and curriculum.
  • Develop and present professional development opportunities for teachers as well as attend professional development opportunities in the areas of coaching, instruction, etc.
  • Mentor and develop new staff.
Qualifications:  
  • Missouri Certification - Special Education Required
  • Special Education Teaching Experience Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred
Salary:  
  • Dependent on level of education and years of teaching experience.  
Work Calendar:
  • Teacher calendar with 10 additional days.
