Upper School Visual Arts Instructor
The Pembroke Hill School seeks a full-time Visual Arts instructor for the 2024-2025 school year.. The position will involve teaching students in grades 9 to 12, with the ability to teach a variety of visual arts courses, from introductory to advanced levels. Candidates should have overall visual arts experience in 2d and 3d media, with a special focus on photography, both darkroom and digital. In addition to teaching photography, other teaching assignments may include any of the following, per the candidate’s interest and experience: Graphic Design, Yearbook, Art Gallery Curation, and AP Art History.
The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic, high-energy educational team and have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Required qualifications:
- A master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience teaching visual arts in an educational environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with and supporting students of various ages/grades.
- Demonstrated commitment to equitable and inclusive practices with respect to pedagogy, curriculum, and community engagement.
- Open-mindedness, flexibility, and enthusiasm about giving and receiving feedback.
- Teaches 5 sections of Visual Arts (grades 9-12) each semester.
- Develops and maintains long-range and daily instructional plans for each course using various teaching and assessment tools and strategies.
- Integrates technology seamlessly into teaching strategies and practices.
- Maintains professional competence through participation in school and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student conduct with the cooperation of the school administration.
- Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees.
