Overview
Académie Lafayette, a K-12 French immersion public charter school in Kansas City, Missouri, is looking for Middle and High School Vice Principal for the school year 2024-2025.  The Vice Principal assists the Principal in the management of the 6-12 Campus in recruiting, supervising, and providing leadership and development opportunities to the faculty. They will work with the building principal to promote the success of every student in a collaborative school culture that is caring, supportive, equitable and inclusive. 

Status of Position
This is a full-time position.  This is an exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Reporting
The Middle and High School Vice-Principal reports to the Principal.

Responsibilities
  • Program Responsibilities:  The Middle and High School Vice-Principal assists the Head of School and Principal in all facets of management, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the School.  This includes providing recommendations to the Head of School regarding the hiring, retention, and assignment of faculty.  The Vice-Principal participates in the observation, supervision, and evaluation of the Middle & High School faculty.  The Vice-Principal works with the Middle & High School faculty to implement, evaluate, and revise, as needed, the Middle & High School curricula.  The Vice-Principal provides academic guidance; maintains complete academic records for all students in the Middle & High School; oversees the methods used by teachers in measuring student achievement; and oversees the grading and the reporting of standards used by the Middle & High School.
  • The Middle & High School Vice-Principal coordinates with the Admissions and Communication Office regarding the recruitment and retention of students.  Assists the Head of School and Principal in acquiring and maintaining the ongoing evaluation process of the International Baccalaureate Programs.  The Vice-Principal participates in the Academic Committee meetings; the Leadership Team meetings and the Conseil d’Ecole meetings.  The Vice-Principal is primarily responsible for discipline in the Middle & High Schools.
Other Responsibilities
  • Developing, implementing and overseeing the disciplinary process, which includes, but is not limited to creating alternative classrooms for work completion, when needed and providing intervention methods to de-escalate emotionally charged situations
  • Helping prepare teachers for parent meetings regarding disciplinary issues
  • Conducting parent meetings regarding disciplinary issues
  • Addressing parent concerns regarding educational, interpersonal, and emotional issues with their student
  • Collaborating with teachers and parents to create improvement plans for both academic and behavioral issues
  • Managing the CARE Team for the Middle & High School
  • Developing a yearly teacher professional development plan
  • Developing with the Principal and Counselors the Middle & High School class/teacher schedule
  • Maintaining a strong partnership with parents based on clear and timely communication
  • Coordinating with the elementary Principals and Vice Principals (4th-5th Grades) a successful transition program for students transitioning from the Elementary School to the Middle School
  • Conducting bi-monthly Middle & High School meetings to guide faculty in planning activities
  • Coordinating with the Head of School and Principal on the integration and alignment of the Middle School French curriculum and the Missouri standards
  • Coordinating with the Head of School, Principal, and the Middle & High School faculty for the implementation of the Citizenship Education Program
  • Communicating with the Head of School & Principal regarding the general program; upcoming activities and events; and on-going concerns or issues with the Middle & High School
  • Support the creation of a cohesive Académie Lafayette school community and leadership team
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Principal
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in educational administration 
  • Current Administrator’s Certification from Missouri or another State, preferred, or documented educational leadership training from another country.
  • Fluent in French 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • At least three years of experience as a principal or vice principal in a middle or high school
  • Pass the MACHS Federal and State Background check and be registered with the Family Care Safety Registry
