STATUS:                          179 Day Contract
FUNDING SOURCE:           District; (1-Year Only; 2024-25 School Year)
FLSA STATUS:                  Exempt
REPORTS TO:                   Director of Federal Programs and Human Resources
 
POSITION SUMMARY: To provide individual, group, and parent support/resources; to provide case management with students and parents; to assist with transitioning students; and to provide information to staff regarding mental health issues/concerns.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  1. Receive and respond to all referrals from staff, students, parents and community members seeking information and connections to resources designed to address student needs in the following areas:
    • Medical, Dental and Mental Health
    • Truancy and School Attendance
    • Food, Clothing and Shelter
    • Academic Support
    • Teen Pregnancy
    • School Supplies
    • College and Career Planning
    • Emergency and/or Disaster Relief
    • Death in Family
    • Hygiene
    • Social Service Applications
    • Transportation
    • Free Legal Services Available
    • Housing
    • Suicide Prevention
    • Extra-curricular School Activities
    • Child Abuse and Abandonment
    • School Behavior
    • Parenting Skills
    • Social and Life Skills
    • Homelessness
    • Foster Care
  2. Work in collaboration with the district administration to provide the public with current federal and state mandated public notifications as directed by supervisor.
  3. Conduct various group student meetings in order to create a supportive network to address various student needs.
  4. Seek, obtain and record appropriate parent and student consent of the release of confidential information when required by local, state and federal mandate.
  5. Maintain strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to building therapeutic relationships with students and collaborative relationships with other staff members, parents and community members.
  6. Actively seek community resources available to help support and/or address the psychological, physical and intellectual needs of the students and families. Act as a liaison between community agencies and the district.
  7. Provide assistance in meeting state, local and federal mandates as assigned by supervisor.
  8. Keep current and organized casework and group work documentation records
  9. Attend professional development, in-service and staff meetings as assigned by supervisor.
  10. Work collaboratively and perform casework with school student success teams.
  11. Other duties as assigned.
 
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 
  1. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of clienteles.

  3. Ability to work effectively with all stakeholders.
  4. Calm demeanor for handling stressful situations.
  5. Ability to accomplish tasks that are often interrupted by persons with special and/or immediate needs.
  6. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Ability to read, analyze, and determine a course of action based on various types of written and verbal information.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 
  1. Current Missouri social worker license preferred.
  2. Degree in social work required.
  3. Previous experience providing social work services in a school setting preferred.
  4. Such alternatives as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone/email and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motions. Requires ability to sit for long periods at a desk and focus on a computer for long periods to complete work. Requires ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and ability to work in noisy, stressful and crowded environments. Ability to work in a variety of locations throughout the District and requires reliable transportation to meetings inside and outside of the District.
