Job Description:
The Soulard School is seeking full-time elementary classroom co-teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. Co-teachers are pairs of certified elementary teachers who share a classroom of 24 students and work together to plan and implement lessons. Major Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with co-teacher to build and implement lesson plans and curriculum based on student interests, student needs, and grade level standards
  • Create units of study that integrate learning across subjects
  • Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, as well as strong communication between home and school.
  • Attend school events as specified in the teacher contract.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and peers.

Education and Experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or related field required
  • Possess, or be able to acquire, Missouri state teacher certification in Elementary or Early Childhood Education
  • At least one year of teaching experience in an elementary setting preferred (public or nonpublic).

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Warm and supportive attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families. 
  • Reliable in attendance.
  • Willing to accept supervision in order to improve work performance.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • Physically able to perform the job of a teacher of young children. 

General Pay and Contract Provisions
  • 40 hour work week with hours between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm
  • School year to run mid-August through early June
  • Health and retirement benefits including participation in Public School Retirement System of St. Louis pension plan
