Job Overview:
The Assistant Dean of Math Instruction at Atlas Elementary is responsible for providing leadership and support to the elementary school's math teachers, ensuring effective delivery of math curriculum and promoting continuous improvement in teaching practices. The successful candidate will oversee a coaching roster, manage math curriculum implementation in grades K-2, handle the implementation of Online learning, conduct data analysis, and provide math intervention and support directly to students.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Coaching 
  • Provide guidance and coaching through classroom observations and feedback sessions to kindergarten through second grade math teachers.
  • Conduct weekly Number Corner observations and provide teachers with feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness and ensure fidelity with the curriculum.
  • Hold unit unpacking and lesson internalization meetings with math teachers.
   
Number Corner Implementation (KG-2nd Grade):
  • Facilitate monthly Number Corner roll-out meetings to ensure effective implementation across all grade levels.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and maintain engaging Number Corner activities.
   
Managing Online Learning (KG-2nd Grade):
  • Assign IXL lessons to students and monitor progress.
  • Communicate with families regarding IXL usage and provide necessary support.
  • Collaborate with the Atlas’ Beyond School Program to ensure alignment with IXL goals.
 
Math Data Analysis (KG-2nd Grade):
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret math data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Collaborate with teachers to determine instructional next steps based on data analysis.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive evaluation of students' math performance.
  • Collaborate with teachers to provide constructive feedback on report card content.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers and the Dean of Math to identify students in need of math intervention and develop collaborative plans to address their specific needs.
 
Math Interventionist:
  • Implement targeted and evidence-based math intervention strategies to support students who are struggling with mathematical concepts, ensuring personalized and differentiated instruction.
  • Regularly assess and monitor the progress of students receiving math intervention, adjusting instructional approaches as necessary to maximize effectiveness and support student growth.
Other Relevant Duties:
  • Collaborate with the school leadership team to align math instruction with overall educational goals.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in math education.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance leadership and instructional skills.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative culture within the math department.
 
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification and administrative experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of elementary math curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
