Job Description:
The Opportunity:  PLA Dean Specialists will provide vital leadership to our school that fosters a culture that aligns with PLA’s core values (respect, determination, children first, gratitude, and continuous improvement).  Our Dean is responsible for the implementation of strategies and programs that motivate and inspire our students to be scholars, including facilitating the development of student character and ensuring a positive and structured environment that creates the conditions for learning.

The Details: 
Key Deliverables: 

• Provides training and leadership for staff and scholars
• Provides leadership and assists administration in monitoring accountability of scholars'   behavior
• Leads communication and fidelity of school-wide established routines and procedures 
• Assists teachers with de-escalation strategies in the classroom
• Demonstrates a high level of support and enthusiasm for PLA initiatives

Experience and Education Requirements:

• A passion for working with students and families in under-served communities 
• Active teachers’ license, counselors’ license, or MSW
• Minimum 3 years of teaching or related experience in counseling or social work
• Must possess successful experiences working with a diverse population of scholars and faculty 
• High level of detail orientation and sound organizational skills
• Strong communication, feedback, and facilitation skills
• Strong interest and willingness to serve in a strategic leadership role on behalf of Phalen Leadership Academies

The Campus
Hogan Preparatory Academy, managed by PLA, is in the heart of Kansas City.  Founded in 1942, our school was originally called Bishop Hogan, named after John Joseph Hogan, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Kansas City, Missouri.  Bishop Hogan operated as a private Catholic school until 1999 when we became a public charter school.  We currently serve 1k scholars, PK through 12th grade. In addition to rigorous academics, we pride ourselves in offering art, music, foreign language, and competitive youth sports, and a commitment to excellence in all that we do.
