ELL teacher - Mexico School District is accepting applications for position of ELL Teacher for a population of mostly Spanish-speaking students.
 
TITLE:  English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher
 
CATEGORY:  Instructional
 
QUALIFICATIONS:   
  1. Shall meet all state certification requirements in subject area
  2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
 
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
 
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
General Purpose:
To provide English language development instruction to students who are acquiring English as an additional language. Work collaboratively with other instructional personnel, including district-wide ELL teachers, to meet the individual needs of each student. 
 
Main Job Task and Responsibilities:
  1. Demonstrates knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory. 
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of second language learning patterns and  best practices in English language development. 
  3. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary in evaluating individual learning styles and needs, which results in planning for an appropriate course of study for individual students. 
  4. Plans and delivers lessons in English language development. 
  5. Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of ELLs across content areas. 
  6. Administers formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and ensure student achievement. 
  7. Reflects an awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by the students and their families. 
  8. Possesses those characteristics necessary for acting as an advocate for limited English speaking students within the school system. 
  9. Possesses the skills necessary for serving as a liaison between the school and the home. 
  10. Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with classroom teachers, administration and families.
  11. Communicates with parents and encourages and promotes parental cooperation and involvement.
  12. Possesses and utilizes those personal skills necessary for the improvement of student attitudes toward learning and school. 
  13. Attends district ELL meetings and professional development offerings. 
  14. Other duties as assigned by your supervisor
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher’s contract 
Contract with salary, benefits, work days to be established by the Board of Education.
 
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy 
on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
