Job Purpose
 
The Ferguson Florissant School District is accepting applications for Instructional Support Leader. The overall role will be to facilitate educational programs and related services under the direction of site administrators. Plan, develop, implement, and facilitate effective implementation of curriculum and instruction, and plans and executes whole school professional development sessions. The evaluation process for the Instructional Coach will include progress of students he/she directly supports.
 
Essential Functions
  1. Observe, coach and support instructional staff to ensure that teaching is at all times intentional, engaging, and rigorous, and that teachers are creating a warm, structured, and responsive classroom culture
  2. Monitor and assess teacher performance
  3. Support the lesson development process and provide feedback to teachers on their lessons and instruction
  4. Identify growth opportunities in instruction and recommend and implement solutions in a timely manner
  5. Build smooth and efficient working relations that directly impact student achievement; work closely and efficiently with the school principal, professional learning communities and department chairs to ensure student success
  6. Reinforce positive student behavior and establish rapport with students; communicate individual academic progress
  7. Facilitates meetings, processes, etc. for the purpose of meeting curriculum guidelines and/or ensuring the state mandates are achieved.
  8. Manages a variety of school administrative functions (school schedule, assigned personnel, summer school, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school, district and state policy and improving student achievement
  9. Presents information (budget overviews, accounting processes, distribution formulas, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.
  10. Supports principal for the purpose of providing instructional assistance.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. A Master’s degree in education with 3+ years of experience.
  2. An endorsement in Reading K-12, mathematics, or science preferred
  3. Excellent communication skills: writing, speaking and listening
  4. Must have experience working with adult learners, including coaching, designing, and facilitating professional development.
  5. Must have strong human relations and organization skills.
  6. Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks.
 
Knowledge/Skills
  • Demonstrated success using data to drive instruction, with a strong understanding of pedagogy that drives results
  • Experience coaching teachers and using feedback to improve practice
  • The ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged
  • Passion and commitment to teaching all students so that every student is performing at or above grade level
  • Relentless drive to set and achieve ambitious goals
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
