JOB DESCRIPTION
 

JOB TITLE:   Elementary Art Teacher
 
The elementary art teacher provides instruction at the elementary level by developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression.  In addition, the elementary art teacher helps to develop students; academic, social, and/or motor skills.
 
REPORTS TO: Principal                             
 
EXAMPLE (S) of WORK PERFORMED:
 

• Accurately demonstrates knowledge of the content area and approved curriculum.
• Teaches knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, etc.
• Demonstrates techniques in activities such as drawing and painting.
• Provides individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities.
• Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment, and tools to minimize time required for distribution and collection.
• Creates a flexible elementary program and classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth for all students.
• Establishes effective rapport with students to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation continued progress in accordance with each student’s ability.
