Bus Aide

Position Summary: The Bus Aide rides on board a school bus to monitor the students. The employee helps with the loading and unloading of students on the bus, buckling, and unbuckling of students and overall student supervision.

Basic Requirements:
  1. Ability to work in temperatures below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Remains calm under pressure and with multiple interruptions.
  3. Ability to communicate with students of all ages and abilities.
  4. Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  5. Maintains confidentiality of student information and records.
  6. Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs.
  7. Ability to work independently.
  8. Excellent human relation skills.
  9. Knowledge of office equipment (computers, emailing, and related items).
  10. Follow federal, state and local legal guidelines.
Experience working with special needs students is preferred.

Location:  De Soto Transportation Department                              
De Soto, “The City of Pride”, has a population of 6,375 and is located in the southeastern part of Missouri, approximately 45 miles south of St. Louis.

Ridership- approximately 1,800
Bus Routes/Bus Fleet- 25 routes/27 buses

Salary:  $15.00-$16.95 per hour
