Job Description:
The Lexington R-V School District is seeking applicants for the 2021-2022 school year for a Special Education Teacher.

Qualifications include the following: The Teacher shall have completed a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, possess the necessary certification for the position as required by the Missouri State Board of Education, as well as meet any other requirement as may be deemed necessary by the Lexington R-V Board of Education, and must complete a successful background screening.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  Comply with all regulations as outlined in the district’s compliance plan for Special Education, initiate and collect data for IEP development, write evaluation summaries, contact parent/guardians for IEP meetings, coordinate and make recommendations for the development for the IEP and complete necessary forms, schedule students for special services, collaborate with classroom teachers on a regular basis to provide appropriate services, maintain contact with parents/guardians concerning student progress, report to Special Education Director and Building Principal concerning special education programs, student progress, conflicts, parent/guardian concerns etc., supervise and give assignments to paraprofessionals and comply with all building and school policies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for success in this position.
Lexington teachers are expected to provide instruction that meets the district goals, mission and benchmarks; create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. All candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to their own ongoing professional growth.
