Job Description:
PURPOSE
This position is responsible for classroom instruction and training in Industrial Technology education. This position could be assigned to teach any combination of the following, but not limited to: PLTW courses and woodworking concepts.
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Plans and implements a program of study that utilizes district approved curricular documents.
    • Is competent in teaching and maintaining safety in the shop.
  • Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the district's goals, establishes and communicates clear objectives to students for all lessons and units.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques.
  • As much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students using data-driven decision-making.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of all students.
  • Collaborates with administrators, colleagues and parents in a positive and productive manner.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:         Bachelor’s degree; Missouri teacher certificate in Technology and Engineering (Grades 5-9)
