Job Description:
Early Childhood Special Education
TITLE:  Occupational Therapist
 
PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Assess and provide occupational therapy children who are eligible for Early Childhood Special Education services.
 
 
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:  Director of Early Childhood Special Education
 
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Occupational Therapist is responsible for effective performance in the following areas:

1. Provide diagnostic assessments for children with suspected fine motor delays. Record and evaluate findings to establish or revise treatment plan.
2. Develop Individual Education Program (IEP).
3. Provide occupational therapy to children.
4. Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
5. Plan with classroom teacher to provide a trans disciplinary approach to meet children’s needs.
6. Provide services within the classroom when possible.
7. Maintain data on children’s progress and development.
8. Communicate effectively with parents regarding individual children’s progress.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be certified occupational therapist.
2. Must have the ability to relate well with young children.
3. Must have the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
