Job Summary: To provide students of Sikeston R-6 Schools educational instruction that will foster and accelerate their intellectual, physical, social, and career development in accordance with district policies and procedures.
General Responsibilities:
- Prepares, teaches, and evaluates welding instructional courses
- Uses various teaching strategies, learning styles, and delivery methods conductive to meaningful learning
- Remains current with Welding technology and standards.
- Remains competent in the following processes: thermal cutting, Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW).
- Maintains knowledge and ability to read welding symbols on working drawings/blueprints.
- Shows knowledge of CNC Plasma CAM or comparable burn table
- Revise and update curriculum and instructional strategies to expand the range of knowledge for students to prepare them for the world today.
- Maintains accurate records of students' attendance and performance.
- Assesses, prioritizes and helps make recommendations for equipment for the program and monitors the security of the program's equipment.
- Participates in the recruitment of students for the program.
- Interacts with businesses, other schools and other local partners to promote the program and assess their need for related programming.
- Participates in Professional Development such as educational conferences, welding up-dates and college course work required to maintain Teaching Certification.
- Maintains a membership with the local SkillsUSA chapter
- Collaborates with staff to analyze student data to make necessary instructional interventions for student growth based on best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education level- Certified Welding Educator/Certified Welding Instructor (CWE/CWI).
- Minimum five (5) years of occupational work experienced as a welder or metal fabricator using a variety of welding processes and materials.
- Knowledge of robotic welding is preferred.
- Certification or Licensure - Appropriate and current Missouri Teaching Certificate.
- Other requirements – Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills. Computer knowledge and assistive technology.
- Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions - Requires prolonged sitting and standing; requires stooping, bending, reaching and lifting; requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials; must work in stressful and hectic environments; requires the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; may require some travel; requires physical and emotional endurance; must be able to work long and irregular hours; and requires regular and consistent attendance and physical presence at the job.
