Job Summary:
The Elsberry R-II School District is seeking a dedicated and reliable full-time Cook to join our Food Service team. The Cook will assist in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of nutritious meals for students and staff in accordance with state and federal child nutrition guidelines. This position plays a key role in supporting the health, well-being, and academic success of our students.

Job Summary:
The Elsberry R-II School District is seeking a dedicated and reliable full-time Cook to join our Food Service team. The Cook will assist in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of nutritious meals for students and staff in accordance with state and federal child nutrition guidelines. This position plays a key role in supporting the health, well-being, and academic success of our students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals following established menus and recipes.
- Assist with setup, serving, and clean-up of breakfast and lunch meals.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and cafeteria environment.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance needs.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food and supplies.
- Work cooperatively with other food service staff to ensure efficient meal service.
- Interact with students and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior food preparation or food service experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow recipes, menus, and written/oral instructions.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Dependability, punctuality, and strong teamwork skills required.
- Full-time, Monday–Friday during the school year.
- Additional hours as needed for special events or summer programs.
- Hourly wage commensurate with experience and district salary schedule.
