Coordinator of English Language Learners (ELL) Description
The Ferguson-Florissant School District is a community of families and neighborhoods located in suburban St. Louis, MO. Fully-accredited by the state of Missouri, the district provides an excellent comprehensive educational program for nearly 10,000 students from preschool through 12th grade. The district is comprised of seven primary schools (PreK-2), six elementary schools (3-5), two sixth grade centers, two middle schools (7-8), two high schools and one alternative school as well as a nationally-recognized early education program, the PROBE gifted education program, the award-winning Challenger Learning Center, Little Creek Nature Area, the Innovation School at Cool Valley, a STEAM middle school and a STEAM high school.

The Coordinator of ELL provides districtwide leadership, coordination, and support for the PreK–12 English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. This position ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, advances high-quality curriculum and instruction, and fosters professional growth among staff. In collaboration with principals, teachers, families, and community partners, the Coordinator promotes student success, addressing both academic and language development needs while creating inclusive and supportive learning environments.

Position Overview Reports To: Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Employment Terms: This is a 260-day position compensated according to the Administrator Salary Schedule, as outlined in district policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Salary is determined based on the employee’s experience and education. Continued employment is subject to annual evaluation in alignment with this job description.
FLSA: Exempt
Retirement: PSRS
Salary: $85,000 per year minimum, based on education, experience, and certifications
Calendar: 12-month contract (July-June)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in ESOL, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field required
- Minimum five years of successful teaching experience, including work with ELLs required
- Knowledge of second language acquisition, English language development strategies, and differentiated instruction required
- Experience with curriculum development, instructional coaching, or program leadership required
- Fluency in a language other than English required
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:
- Missouri ESOL K–12 Certification required
- Administrative or supervisory certification preferred
