Momentum Academy is a public charter school district with three campuses in St. Louis City, serving scholars in grades PK-8. Momentum promotes academic excellence in an environment of mutual care and support that builds character, confidence, and community among each of our scholars so that they reach their full potential.
Role
Momentum Academy is seeking a passionate, part-time music teacher with a focus on vocals and general music theory. This position plays a key role in enriching our scholars’ educational experience through dynamic, engaging music instruction. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a love for music that inspires scholars of all levels.

The salary for this position begins at $43,560.81 and increases based on years of experience, certification(s), and highest level of education.
Schedule
This role will be effective September 1, 2025 with a tentative start date of September 15, 2025. This is a part-time or full-time position and will be present 5 days per week; specific hours to be determined based on availability.

Essential Responsibilities and Competencies
- Teach general music theory and vocal performance to students of varying skill levels
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Incorporate musical games, movement, and rhythm activities into lessons
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons tailored to PK-8 learners
- Prepare students for school performances and musical showcases
- Encourage participation in school-based music enrichment opportunities
- Build strong relationships with students and families
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to support growth
- Uphold and model school-wide expectations for behavior and achievement
- Collaborate with school staff and participate in professional development as required
- Support school-wide events and contribute to a vibrant arts culture on campus
Education/Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required (Music Concentration preferred)
- Missouri Teaching Certification with Music Education Endorsement recommended, but not required
- Experience teaching or working with children in an educational or musical setting
- Proficiency in vocal instruction and basic music theory
- Ability to engage and manage a diverse group of learners
- Reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic about student success
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience working with students preferred (experience working with students and families in urban communities is a plus)
- Background in choral pedagogy or group vocal instruction
- Familiarity with educational technology and music software
- Previous experience in a school or youth-focused environment
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Proven track record of student achievement results
- Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
