Job Description:
The Festus School District is currently seeking qualified applications for the position of:  Bus Driver  

Qualifications:          Minimum of HS Diploma.  MUST have Class B CDL, Passenger Endorsement, School Bus Endorsement, & Air Brake Endorsement (will train)

Rate of Pay:              $24 per hour minimum.  Pay rate dependent upon prior experience. 

Hours:                       Bus driver = 6:30am – 8:45 & 2:00 – 4:30 Monday - Friday when school is in session.

Additional Info:        If you do not have your CDL or required endorsements, we will provide paid training ($17 per hour, minimum of 14 hours).  If you are in a position that you need full-time employment &  health insurance, we can pair a bus driver position with a mid-day custodial positon (custodial pay = $15 per hour min).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Transport students of all ages to and from school and extra-curricular activities in a safe and timely manner.
• Follow bus routes as written and approved by the Director of Transportation.
• Manage student behavior and maintain discipline on the bus.
• Keep two-way radio on at all times that the bus is in operation.
• Assist administrative personnel, teachers, and parents in promoting a positive relationship between the school, students, and parents.
• Conduct and log pre-trip inspections to check for cleanliness, safety, proper mechanical functions and adequate fuel level.
• Conduct trip inspections after each run to check for vandalism, cleanliness, lost articles and sleeping children.
• Report mechanical problems to mechanics or director of transportation.
• Observe rules, regulations and responsibilities contained in board policies and transportation handbook.
• Attend meetings in accordance with departmental requirements.
• Complete all required forms completely and promptly.
• Report changes in route conditions to the transportation director as soon as possible.
• Maintain a good record of attendance.
• Maintain the confidentiality of students’ discipline and medical records.
• Keep the bus clean.
