Job Description:
Friendly Academy is a new K-5 charter school in St. Louis, MO. Friendly Academy's mission is to equip students with a quality and holistic education rooted in love.  We seek a Dean of Students to assist in leading our school to strong culture and academic outcomes by managing and guiding our founding  team to uphold our high educational standards and ensure students succeed academically and socially/emotionally. 

Responsibilities
  • Assist the CEO in executing the academic and cultural vision of Friendly Academy.
  • Support the implementation of the schoolwide strategic plan, providing feedback and leadership presence where needed.
  • Participate in leadership team meetings, offering insights and supporting decision-making.
  • Model professional expectations and values for staff, students, and families.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide real-time feedback to teachers.
  • Support grade-level/content teams in planning, data analysis, and lesson internalization.
  • Assist in preparing and facilitating professional development sessions.
  • Manage assessment cycles, including logistics and communication.
  • Lead the execution of the schoolwide behavior management plan, including restorative practices and incentives.
  • Assist with student interventions and crisis response in partnership with the CEO.
  • Lead or co-lead Morning Meetings, assemblies, and schoolwide traditions that build belonging.
  • Supervise and coach teachers and support staff, providing feedback aligned to the school’s vision.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure smooth daily routines, coverage, and messaging.
  • Represent Friendly Academy at events, family nights, and community gatherings as needed.
  • Lead parent meetings and serve as building leader when the CEO is out. 
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
  • MO teacher certification is required, and principal certification is  strongly preferred  
  • At least three years of experience in an educational leadership role, ideally in a K-5 setting.
  • Proven track record in leading culture and academic programs and elevating student outcomes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum development, pedagogical theories, and best educational practices

Employment Status: Full-time, exempt position. Reports to the CEO.
