Position Title: Band Teacher/Director
Reports To: Building Principal
Supervises: Students enrolled in band classes and related extracurricular activities
Location: Center High School
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or related field
Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate
Experience with marching band percussion required
Previous teaching or instructional experience in percussion preferred
Ability to tune/replace drum heads and perform minor percussion equipment repairs
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Commitment to ethical and professional behavior
Availability for after-school and weekend events, including rehearsals and performances

Position Summary
The Center Mighty Marching Yellowjacket Band is seeking a dynamic and skilled Band Teacher and Director to lead and instruct students in the band program. This individual will serve as a classroom instructor as well as the director of the marching band season, with a focus on percussion instruction and performance readiness.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging daily instruction to students in instrumental music courses
Instruct and rehearse percussion parts for marching band performances
Teach cadences and prepare percussion students for athletic, school, and community events
Lead and assist with rehearsals, performances, and competitions
Assist with auditions and student placement, particularly within the drumline
Support and supervise student participation at home football and basketball games
Collaborate with other music staff, school administrators, and community partners
Maintain and care for band equipment and instruments, particularly percussion
Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom and rehearsal environment
Working Conditions
Primarily based at Center High School
Requires availability during and outside of standard school hours for practices, performances, and events
