Job Description:
As a Special School District (SSD) literacy coach/reading specialist, you are a partner in creating meaningful learning experiences that support students in becoming confident, capable readers. In this dual role, you will work closely with educators to strengthen instructional practices and provide targeted reading interventions for students. You will empower students of all learning abilities to grow as readers and thinkers, helping them build the skills they need to excel to their greatest potential. This position is part of a federally funded Title program and plays a critical role in improving literacy outcomes throughout the school community.
 
As a Literacy Coach (60%), you will collaborate with educators to strengthen instructional practices, provide coaching, and align support with the Missouri Learning Standards for English Language Arts and the Science of Reading. As a Reading Specialist (40%), you will deliver targeted reading interventions, monitor progress, and help students build confidence and engagement with reading.

Salary 
  • $49,000 to $83,250/year based on experience and education
 
Education and Experience 
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Prior teaching experience in the area of reading/literacy required
  • Prior experience teaching special education preferred
  • Coaching or instructional leadership experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 
  • Missouri Special Reading K-12 certification issued through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
