Orchestra Teacher - Certified
The Kirkwood School District is hiring a Orchestra Teacher for the 25/26 school year to support Kirkwood High School.
 
Kirkwood’s orchestra program has a proud tradition of excellence. With an enrollment of over 450 students at the beginning, middle, and high school levels, Kirkwood School District has earned state and national recognition for excellence in string education. KSD Orchestras have performed at the Missouri Music Educators Association Conference (1996, 2000, 2006, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2020, 2024), the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic (2014), and Carnegie Hall by invitation (2010, 2016). Each year, Kirkwood students participate in Missouri All-State Orchestra, the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra at Webster University, and others. Graduates have attended top music schools nationwide, including the Juilliard School, Eastman School of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, and the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have achieved a high level of musicianship on their primary instrument.
• Effectively teach both homogeneous and heterogeneous classes at the beginning, middle, and high school levels. 
• Comfortably serve in both lead and assistant teaching roles, including proficiency in conducting, sectional coaching, individual support, and large group instruction settings.

Salary is based on the Certified Salary Schedule, dependent on relevant education & experience.
