POSITION SUMMARY: Will develop curriculum to maximize the learning outcomes for each student; assist with implementation of related activities and instruction; provide information and resources to support student learning outcomes; provide professional learning to improve the quality of instruction; and follow established guidelines and standards set forth by the district Teaching and Learning Department. The focus will be on K-12 Social Studies as well as supporting select elective courses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
POSITION SUMMARY: Will develop curriculum to maximize the learning outcomes for each student; assist with implementation of related activities and instruction; provide information and resources to support student learning outcomes; provide professional learning to improve the quality of instruction; and follow established guidelines and standards set forth by the district Teaching and Learning Department. The focus will be on K-12 Social Studies as well as supporting select elective courses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide support to K-12 teams in the review and development of course curriculum and alignment to state and national standards.
- Work with district staff and community partners to continually evaluate curriculum and programs.
- Manage the annual review and revision of the board adopted curriculum using assessment data, feedback and other information that indicates needed revisions.
- Facilitate horizontal and vertical alignment of district curriculum and resources.
- Keep well-versed in current developments in the areas of curriculum, pedagogy, and theory related to curriculum, instruction, and best practices.
- Identify appropriate professional development opportunities in curricular areas.
- Develop and provide necessary professional development to meet the needs of the district.
- Provide modeling and instructional support in research-based instructional practices and the use of evidence based resources and materials.
- Facilitate reviews of standardized test data and other relevant data; communicate findings and curricular implications with committee members and/or other stakeholders.
- Analyze data to make determinations for student supports and interventions in accordance with state mandates and district policy.
- Work collaboratively with building staff to plan and implement intervention evaluative measures and tiered plan development.
- Follow all district policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Ability, both orally and in writing, to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from colleagues, administrators, parents, and students.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents through oral and written communication.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data, state curricular documents, online platforms, and resources. 4. Ability to provide instructional feedback to colleagues regarding curriculum implementation and instructional strategies. 5. Working knowledge of Google Suites.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and to understand abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to use available information and develop realistic long-term and short-term plans for curricular goals. 10. Ability to unpack state and national learning standards.
- Ability to lead, organize, and motivate people.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of school expectations/requirements.
- Ability to organize information from various sources.
- Ability to use knowledge of curriculum and learning standards to impact student achievement across multiple subjects and grade level bands.
- At least 5 years of teaching experience
- Content knowledge and expertise in the area of Social Studies (Preferred in state-assessed area)
- Possess a Missouri DESE certification.
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Prior experience in successfully leading professional development preferred
- Strong instructional leader
- Successful experience in administering and interpreting standardized tests
- Knowledge and experience in assessment and data analysis
