Key Responsibilities
Instructional Design and Delivery
- Plan and deliver high-quality, interactive lessons in a designated Related Arts subject area (e.g., Spanish, Chinese, Music, Dance, Theater, Makerspace, STEAM, Coding, Art).
- Use age-appropriate methods such as hands-on activities, storytelling, games, movement, and multimedia to engage students and build foundational skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, interests, and developmental levels.
- Support cross-curricular integration and work collaboratively with classroom teachers when appropriate.
- Develop and implement a scaffolded curriculum that reflects school goals and aligns with national or state content standards in the subject area.
- Ensure lessons promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and cultural awareness.
- Introduce students to broader global perspectives and real-world applications of the content area.
- Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and families.
- Maintain accurate records of student participation and growth.
- Create a joyful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where all students feel safe to take risks and express themselves.
- Establish consistent routines and expectations using positive behavior strategies.
- Foster collaboration, respect, and creativity among students.
- Communicate with families about student learning, goals, and achievements.
- Organize or support school events that highlight student work and celebrate arts, culture, or innovation (e.g., performances, showcases, family nights).
- Build meaningful relationships with families to support student success.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and learning aligned to your subject area.
- Contribute to a collaborative and mission-driven school community.
- Participate in staff meetings, curriculum planning, and school-wide initiatives.
- Organize and maintain materials and resources that support your subject area.
- Use technology, tools, and supplies effectively to enhance student engagement and learning.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting learning environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Arts, Languages, Technology, etc.).
- State teaching certification (or eligibility for certification).
- Deep content knowledge and skill in at least one Related Arts area.
- Experience teaching elementary-aged students.
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for student engagement and inclusive learning environments.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Atlas Public Schools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Multiple certifications or ability to teach more than one Related Arts subject.
- Experience in a diverse or urban school setting.
- Familiarity with national content standards in your subject area.
- Skill in integrating technology and project-based learning.
