The Dunklin R-5 School District has a position available for a Science Teacher at Herculaneum High School for the 2025-2026 school year. Contracted for one year with a possible extension.
The Dunklin R-5 School District is a short distance from the St. Louis area (less than 30 minutes) and is located off the Hwy 55 exit in Herculaneum, MO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Start Date: 08/14/2025
Salary Range: Commensurate with education and experience. $43,500.00; Step 1
Benefits: Board-paid health, Life, and Dental Insurance. Offered, on a fee basis, in-district childcare for ages birth through two, with preschool available from ages 3 to 5. PSRS Retirement, optional supplemental insurance plans, and 403b, 457 plans. Twelve (12) Personal Days, Paid Jury Duty, Ten (10) Paid Professional Development Days, Ten (10) School Business Days, and Five (5) Paid Bereavement Days. Tuition reimbursement, $750.00 New Hire Stipend, Career Ladder, and unused leave payout stipend.

- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter appropriate to grade level/course assignment.
- Provides meaningful instruction to students, which will enhance student learning and increase student engagement.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Utilize appropriate supplementary materials in lesson planning and presentation to enhance learning.
- Communicate in a manner that is effective and appropriate to the age and/or ability level of students.
- Incorporate appropriate assessment to provide feedback on a student’s mastery of material and attainment of specific instructional requirements.
- Assist the administration in implementing the Dunklin R-5 Code of Conduct at the building and classroom level to provide a safe school and classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Create lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement district-approved curriculum and Missouri learning goals.
- Participate in building, grade-level, and subject area committees.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Maintain and submit accurate records, including student attendance, grades, and discipline, as well as others required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Complete and submit forms and required reports on time.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns.
- Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team, or other student assistance teams as requested.
- Implement special educational plans such as 504 plans, individual educational programs, and individual health plans.
- Take steps to counteract prejudices based on race, religion, gender, age, disabilities, or personal attributes to foster a learning community that respects all participants.
- Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by Board of Education policy.
- Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher.
- Provide and accept constructive criticism for the improvement of teaching and learning.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with parents and co-workers to support the mission of the school district.
- Maintain professional relationships with students to effectively support them as learners.
- Prepare students for local and state assessments.
- Respond to administrative requests on time.
- Comply with all Dunklin R-5 School Board of Education policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
