JOB DESCRIPTION
 
JOB TITLE:    High School Career and Technical Education Teacher - Business
 
The high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher provides instruction in an identified discipline in the area of occupation, career and technical, or vocational subjects.  In addition, the high school teacher helps to develop students’ academic, social, and/or motor skills.
 
REPORTS TO:    Principal                             
 
EXAMPLE (S) of WORK PERFORMED:
 
  • Plans and implements an inquiry based technical and vocational program, highly focused on specific career path to develop students’ skills and preparation for the work world.
  • Co-teaches math and entrepreneurship courses.
  • Creates engaging lessons that develop students’ critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Continually assesses student progress toward mastery of standards.
  • Creates a flexible high school technical and vocational program and classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth for all students.
  • Establishes effective rapport with students to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation continued progress in accordance with each student’s ability.
  • Demonstrates appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction.
  • Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as facilitators of student learning.
  • Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in-group settings.
  • Assess student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback, and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed.
  • Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge.
  • Takes responsibility for teaching the district curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons units and projects and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Keeps abreast of current development in their fields and continues to deepen their understanding of their disciplines.
  • Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community..
