Position Summary: To create an educational program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a quality education, in accordance with each student’s ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Teaches district approved curriculum and adheres to adopted Board of Education policies.
- Identifies ELD student language proficiency level and develops strategies for individual learning plans.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers to link ELD and content standards in order to provide support to English language development.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each ELD student.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Uses differentiated instruction and interventions to meet the needs of English language developers.
- Ensures that communications to parents are translated into parents’ home language whenever possible.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director and/or Principal.
- Ability to work independently.
