Position Purpose:
The School District of University City is accepting applications for an Instructional Coach for Special Education Teacher. The overall role of the instructional support leader will be to support the work of the classroom teacher through coaching, feedback, modeling, data analysis, and planning. The Instructional Coach will also assist with developing and implementing interventions for small groups of students. This position will support classroom teachers with the implementation of research-based practices by providing coaching support to improve academic and social-emotional outcomes and reduce overall disproportionality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Build classroom teachers' instructional capacity to ensure the optimal delivery of district curricular priorities
- Provide teachers with high-quality professional development, modeling, and collaborative planning for the purpose of skill elevation
- Share successful instructional methodologies and practices
- Support the building-level data team analysis process
- Provide superior curricular training and resources to staff
- Ensure learning community and teacher instruction maximizes student learning
- Deliver small group interventions
- Conduct student instructional diagnostic evaluations, assess student progress and develop prescriptive instructional programs to be implemented by the classroom teacher
- Identify, procure, and/or develop modified curriculum materials to meet the needs of impacted students
- Support implementation of culturally responsive and evidence-based instructional practices
- Use data to inform instructional practices and identify interventions that close opportunity gaps
- Design and deliver professional learning focused on inclusive practices, trauma-informed instruction, and social-emotional learning
- Additional duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications noted below are required to enable the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.
- Missouri teacher certification (required)
- Special Education certification highly desirable
- Middle school cert is (preferred)
- Administrative certification Grades K-8 (preferred)
- 3+ years of teaching experience with a proven track record of student academic achievement
- Experience designing and facilitating professional development for adult learners
- Experience in implementing effective student interventions
- Experience coaching adults (preferred)
- Exceptional communication skills including writing, speaking and listening
- Strong human relations and organization skills
- An endorsement in Reading K-12, mathematics, or science (preferred)
- Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 30 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending and reaching for extended periods of time
- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment, and move about the work area
- This position will subject the employee to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work related hazards
