Faculty Assistant, Early Childhood
Begins August 2025
Job Summary: Pembroke Hill School seeks a caring, growth-minded educator to join its early childhood team as a faculty assistant. In partnership with a lead teacher, the faculty assistant builds community and encourages children to play, investigate, problem-solve, and construct new understandings in a welcoming, joyful environment. Faculty assistants support children’s growth and development by preparing materials, setting up learning spaces, and leading experiences that build on student interests, motivations, and wonderings.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, our faculty and staff believe in an image of the child as capable, curious, and eager to learn and make sense of the world. Faculty Assistants contribute significantly to the educational program by serving as positive role models and guides for children, facilitating healthy and productive relationships, and assisting in implementing student-centered curriculum and classroom routines.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Schedule: Based on the school year, August- May, Monday- Friday 7:40 am-3:40 pm. During the school year, there are three school vacations – one week at Thanksgiving, two weeks in December, and two weeks in March – plus holidays, personal and sick days.
Compensation: The annual base salary for the school year ranges from $33,600-36,700 bbased on previous experience, and there are ways to earn additional compensation through the extended day program, coaching, and/or summer camp. There is a full range of excellent benefits, including health, dental, retirement match (up to 8%), professional development, PHS tuition remission, free lunch, and more!

- Bachelor’s Degree; education related or equivalent experience in education.
- 1-3 years experience working with children, preferably in a teaching or tutoring role.
- Prefer experience or knowledge of the Reggio Emilia Approach.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Collaborates with the lead teacher on curricular planning, student learning experiences, and professional growth.
