Elementary School Principal
(Grades 1 – 5)

Position Summary
North Side Community School is seeking an Elementary School Principal to begin July 1, 2025.  If you are an experienced educator with a passion for children of all ages, WE WANT TO MEET YOU!

The Principal is the educational and culture leader at the school creating and maintaining a positive, safe, and high standards learning environment, supervising building faculty, staff, students and managing all resources in accordance with North Side’s mission, goals, and policies. The Principal provides effective modeling, evaluation, and professional coaching to instructional and support staff; develops and implements professional learning communities, and regularly reviews course specific lesson plans for alignment to core knowledge, skills, and illiteracies. As the school’s lead educator, the Principal is responsible for establishing a positive school climate where each student is treated as an individual, every family is treated as a partner in education, and every staff member is treated as a valued colleague.

Essential Functions
Student Achievement & Instructional Leadership:
  • Lead and oversee the school’s instructional program.
  • Lead the implementation of an effective behavior management plan emphasizing behavior as learning and leading implementation of a restorative model.
  • Analyze data with teams and teachers regularly to maximize scholar performance.
  • Ensure that every student shows dramatic achievement gains and that the school meets the ambitious performance goals set by the school’s Board and Executive Director.
  • Design and create systems for assessments and the use of assessment results.
  • Identify best practice and ensure consistency and a high level of instructional quality in every class, every day, for every scholar.
Staff Development and Evaluation:
  • Works with the Curriculum and Instruction Team to ensure the planning of impactful instruction and professional development for all staff.
  • Create systems to ensure the proper supervision, observation, support, and evaluation of all school staff.
  • Assist with interviewing and selecting staff members that will significantly advance the mission of North Side Community School.
Parent & Community Partnership:
  • Cultivate positive relationships with parents and the local community.
  • Guarantee consistent, timely, and courteous communication between the school and parents.
  • Develop systems and opportunities for parent and community involvement.
Leadership & Management:
  • Establishment of a positive school culture
  • Ensure that the school runs smoothly, efficiently, and on budget.
  • Prepare reports on school and scholar progress.
  • Correspond with the Executive Director and provide timely reports on school performance including but not limited to the following: Academic performance, staff morale, enrollment, attendance, assessments, HR matters, and technology.
Skills & Characteristics
  • Have at least three years of experience successfully teaching and providing meaningful leadership in an urban or alternative school, including a track record of dramatically improving student achievement.
  • Master’s degree in education preferred (or a comparable amount of experience).
  • Have experience with teacher coaching and evaluation.
  • Be a highly collaborative, results-oriented, adaptable, problem-solving self-starter.
  • Embrace using data to inform instructional planning and practice.
  • Comfortable analyzing student performance results and working to improve instructional practices.
  • Desire for rigorous, choice-based professional development and coaching with a focus on continuous improvement and instructional effectiveness.
  • Be positive, thoughtful, passionate, articulate, motivating, and empowering with students and team members.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be computer savvy, with proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, Google Docs, etc.
Education and Certification
  • Current Missouri Certification for School Leadership.
  • Master’s degree in education preferred.
  • Three years of school administration experience preferred.
