Job Description:
The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding educator for the position of Early Childhood Education to provide instruction and special education services to children from three to five years of age with developmental delays who are enrolled in the district’s Early Childhood Special Education and Early Education program. 
 
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Must have a valid Missouri teaching certificate in Early Childhood Special Education.
  • Develop, monitor and review Individual Education Programs (IEPs) 
  • Coordinates special education documentation regarding the special education process including referral, IEP development and implementation, in compliance with district, state and federal requirements.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and abilities of students.
  • Participate in the implementation of a developmentally-appropriate curriculum for three to five-year-old children with special needs.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies
  • Promote the development of social skills in young children.
  • Provide individual, small group, and classroom special education instruction in
    accordance with the IEP.
  • Promote a transdisciplinary approach to meeting children’s needs.
  • Implement therapeutic procedures and techniques (speech/language, motor, social/emotional, etc.) in accordance with specialists/therapists.
  • Supervise the delivery of special education services by Instructional Aides and volunteers.
  • Assist the regular education teacher with delivering instruction and understanding the needs of students with a developmental delay(s) to effectively provide early intervention services in a preschool setting.
  • Collect and report data and other information regarding child progress.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate with parents on a routine basis keeping them informed of their child’s progress. 
  • Assist in the transition of students the early childhood special education program into the school age programs/schools.
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned relating to the effective delivery of services to children and their families.
