REPORTS TO: Teacher/Principal/SPED Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Special Education/Support Staff
POSITION OVERVIEW
Special School District’s (SSD’s) teacher assistants, also known as paraprofessionals, assist teachers in helping our students excel to their greatest potential. The supports provided are as varied as our students, and the work involved is critically important to their success. We are a diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility-focused district with deep expertise in serving our students. Assistants are valued members of our educational community and are provided with professional development and growth opportunities to ensure they are supported. For assistants interested in pursuing a teaching position, SSD offers tuition assistance and programs to support you.

Teacher Assistant: $21.00 to $34.00/hr based on experience and education
Teacher Aide: $17.00 to $28.00 per hour, based on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
TEACHER ASSISTANT
Education and Experience
- Thirty-six hours of college credit required or the ability to obtain substitute certification through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with children preferred
