Mexico Public Schools is now accepting applications for a Science Teacher position at Mexico Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 1.) Bachelor’s degree in job-related area   2.) Valid Missouri Teacher Certificate for appropriate level
 
REPORTS TO: Principal
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: New teachers 185 (includes 4 holidays) days with benefits provided according to Mexico Public Schools. New teachers are required to attend New Teacher Week in addition to the 185 days.
 
JOB GOAL: Provide support to the instructional process by serving as a science teacher with specific responsibility for assisting students in learning the appropriate subject matter and skills that will contribute to the students’ development.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction targeted to the needs of each student.
2. Participates in curriculum review and design as required.
3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
4. Analyzes test data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement.
5. Administers subject specific assessments, district and state assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and developing individual learning plans.
6. Monitors student progress and adjusts instruction accordingly.
7. Collaborates with professional learning communities, administrators, instructional staff, other school personnel, parents/legal guardians for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student achievement.
8. Provides progress reports on each student as required by Mexico Public Schools as well as maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
9. Refers students for alternative services as provided by Mexico Public Schools.
10. Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
11. Models appropriate behaviors and responsibility for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt
SALARY GRADE: Teacher
