Job Description:
The Ferguson Florissant School District is accepting applications for the position of High School Science Teacher.
 
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:  Innovation High School Science Teacher will instruct students in the District Curriculum, Missouri Learning Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards.  Students will be expected to demonstrate mastery in the field and defend their learning through various assessments and projects. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Implement an academically rigorous curriculum.  Collect and reflect on student data, and adjust instruction accordingly.  Communicate learning targets and outcomes to colleagues, parents, and students on a regular basis.  Commit to building a community of child-centered educators by mentoring other educators and making regular contributions to be shared publicly, including curriculum, best practices, and research findings.
 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in education or advanced degree preferred.
• Must have a valid Missouri teaching certificate in science grade 9-12
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and abilities of students.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established District curriculum goals, establish and communicate clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units and projects.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, provide progress reports as required, and communicated with parents as deemed necessary.
• Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administration regulations.
• Develop a code of conduct for the classroom, which is consistent with established Discipline Code of the District and the assigned building. Develop rules of classroom behavior, which are enforced in a fair and just manner.
• Maintain good attendance.

 
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:
 

• Supports and upholds the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the Ferguson-Florissant School District.
• Effectively interacts, communicates, and collaborates with all stakeholders.
• Establishes a safe, supportive, positive, and productive working and learning environment.
• Collaborates with teachers with the creation and implementation of district curriculum units.
• Participates in ongoing curriculum development and implementation activities.
• Works with district and school leaders in planning, expanding, and implementing new programs.
• Participates in and attends various workshops, seminars, and conferences to continuously update professional knowledge.
• Participates in all activities deemed necessary for the success of the district and Innovation High School programming.
• Performs other related duties are required.

Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible about of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
