Job Description:
Position: Teacher I – Teacher II
Salary: $40,000 - $60,000 annually
(Starting salary depends on education, licensure, and years of experience)
Job Type: Full Time Salaried Exempt
Purpose: Provide direct instruction to students requiring special education in a therapeutic educational milieu.
Essential Responsibilities
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
Certification Required: Be eligible for or hold Missouri certification in teaching field Experience: 1-3 years of experience preferred

Purpose: Provide direct instruction to students requiring special education in a therapeutic educational milieu.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) that meet state requirements
- Provide individualized direct instruction
- Work with therapy staff to meet both academic and affective goals
- Maintain a trauma-informed classroom environment conducive to learning
- Collect systematic student progress data
- Participate in IEP meetings as requested
- Adhere to the core values and mission of Cornerstones of Care
- Participate in on-going staff development activities
- IEP development and implementation
- Student data collection and interpretation
- Individualization of instruction for students with special needs
- Behavior management
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
Certification Required: Be eligible for or hold Missouri certification in teaching field Experience: 1-3 years of experience preferred
In addition to the above requirements, incumbent must:
- Complete Sanctuary training in a timely manner;
- Have a valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance;
- Follow all agency policies;
- Be able to pass State Abuse, Neglect and criminal background checks;
- Be able to carry out the essential functions of the position with, or without, accommodation.
- Perform all job duties in a manner which demonstrates a commitment to Sanctuary values and practices.
- Demonstrate awareness and understanding of cultural and ethnic diversity of clients, staff and other community partners.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Ability to perform a range of physical motions including, but not limited to:
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time
- Kneeling, squatting, and stooping,
- Running for brief periods of time
- Ability to use senses of sight and hearing to effectively supervise clients
- Must possess, or be willing to attain CPR, First Aid, and Safe Crisis Management (SCM) Training (with sufficient passing score) within two weeks of hire date.
