Job Description:
Position Purpose: This position will serve in a key support position in the Department of Special Services. This person will assist in program development, planning and management with specific responsibilities in programs for students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

• Must meet Kansas State Department of Education licensure requirements for Special Education.
• The candidate should have a background in programming for and educating students with special needs and management of IEPs, collaborating with a wide variety of other educational specialists, and consulting with other educational staff.
• Good communication and consultation skills, team building, management knowledge of special education procedures and regulations are important.
• Some understanding of modified curriculum and instructional adaptation is essential.
• An advanced degree is preferred.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Classroom consultation Program planning
• Coordination of staff development
• Participation in student placement decisions
• Participation in IEP meetings and transition activities
• Assist with the management of the IEP development, placement and coordination process; providing programming information to educational staff
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local procedures and regulations
• Assist in the selection and approval of professional materials, supplies and equipment
• Support Co-teaching, CHAMPS, Differentiated Instruction, and KU strategies.
