Momentum Academy is a public charter school district with four campuses in St. Louis City, serving scholars in grades PK-8. Momentum promotes academic excellence in an environment of mutual care and support that builds character, confidence, and community among each of our scholars so that they reach their full potential.
Music Teacher Role
Momentum Academy is looking for an experienced music teacher to be responsible for teaching music as part of the school curriculum. The music teacher will follow the guidelines as set out by the education department which includes the practice of general music, singing and playing musical instruments.
Essential Responsibilities and Competencies
The salary for this position begins at $40,036.52 and increases based on years of experience, certification(s), and highest level of education.
What We Offer
Teachers and staff are expected to be present for core hours of 7:15AM to 4:00PM during the school year from August to May.

Essential Responsibilities and Competencies
- Teaching general styles of music.
- Teaching classical piano, practical and theory.
- Teaching singing to students from beginner to advanced level.
- Incorporating musical instruments and movement in lessons.
- Planning and implementing a program of instruction and lesson plans.
- Preparing students for school concerts and planned music experiences.
- Preparing students for exams.
- Inspiring and motivating students to extend themselves to after school music clubs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required (Music Concentration preferred)
- Missouri Teaching Certification required (K-12 Instrumental Teaching preferred)
- 1-3 years of teaching experience (experience working with students and families in urban communities is a plus)
- Choral pedagogy.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience with school teaching platforms and technology for virtual learning
- Proven track record of student achievement results
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
- Demonstrated mastery and enthusiasm for content knowledge.
- Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
- A tireless work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative solution finder.
- Open to feedback and committed to continuously improving.
