Job Description:
St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.
Our Corporate & Community Development Department at SCC is seeking a part-time, project-based AEL Substitute Instructor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Instructs Adult Education & Literacy students in basic reading, math, and writing skills to pass the HiSET test and/or to attain personal goals.
  • Assesses and instructs English as a Second Language students in conversational reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English.
  • Remediates college credit students in preparation for placement in credit courses.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree is required. AEL certification is not required, but is preferred and can be provided by SCC for the right candidate. Candidates should be willing to work at any of the nine locations where classes are held.
Hours: Varies; on an as needed basis.
