Purpose Statement
The Springfield, Missouri Public School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Principal - High School.
The Springfield School District is Missouri’s largest public school district and has built a reputation of academic excellence based on the outstanding performance of our students and schools. About 25,000 students attend 36 elementary schools, an intermediate school, 9 middle schools, 5 high schools and a variety of alternative education and choice programs.
The job of Assistant Principal -High School provides support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for directing assigned programs and services at a elementary, middle school or high school; assists leadership with aligning to the district’s strategic plan; providing information and serving as a resource to others; supervising assigned staff; coordinating school activities and addressing issues, situations and/or problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students.

Hillcrest Opening Only:
This position will also have the responsibilities for being the Site Athletic Director.
The Site Athletic Director will direct the athletics program and related activities through grades 9-12 while collaborating with applicable curriculum administrators to ensure alignment in core content areas.  The Site Athletic Director will work with internal and external stakeholders to increase student engagement through athletic programs. 
Job related experience within a specialized field, required
Hillcrest Only:Experience in coaching and/or Athletic Director experience
Masters degree in job-related area, required
Miscellaneous Requirements
Background clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required
Certificates and Licenses
Missouri Teaching Certificate, required
Missouri Administrative Certificate, required
Ability to gain and maintain “Highly Qualified” status as defined by Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 30% sitting, 40% walking and 30% standing.
The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
