Job Description:
Good Shepherd is seeking a highly qualified lead teacher for a classroom of eight children in the 16 to 14 month age range. The room is staffed by the lead teacher and one full time assistant with additional supports from float staff in the afternoons. Our ideal candidate will not only be well versed in the care in education of toddlers, but also able to display appropriate professionalism to supervise and guide classroom staff.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children
- Monitor and assess the progress of each child
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians
- Manage classroom behavior and promote positive social interactions
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive learning environment
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate children with special needs or learning disabilities
- Incorporate educational games, activities, and materials to enhance learning
- Foster a love for learning and encourage curiosity in young children
- Strong knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education practices
- Ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans
- Proficient in behavior management techniques
- Familiarity with special education strategies and accommodations
- Experience working with children in a daycare or educational setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, compassion, and understanding when working with young children
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students

This position requires either an associate degree or higher in an early care and education related field or two years of experience working as a lead teacher in a licenced center. If you do not meet these requirements, we may offer you an opportunity to consider an assitant position.
Good Shepherd is a small non-profit center with a 55 year long reputation for providing year-round care and education in an inclusive setting. In our under two-years-old classrooms, up to two of the eight children may be identified with special needs.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
