SUMMARY: Reports directly to the Director of Facilities. Supervise areas of operation of the custodial department.  Assumes the function of the Director of Facilities in his/her absence.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directs the activities of the custodial staff as outlined by the Director of Facilities.
  • Keep the Director of Facilities informed of developments regarding the total Facilities Department.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Assigns work to be done in a manner that is cost and labor effective.
  • Schedule maintenance and construction projects so as to minimize their interference with school activities.
  • Works collaboratively with site administrators to recommend employment and termination on all jobs and personnel within the maintenance and custodial department.
  • Evaluate the employee’s performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Requisitions approved budgeted items.
  • Makes routine inspection of all buildings and grounds for needed repairs.
  • Confers with building principals on matters common to both the school and the facilities department.
  • Maintains proper inventories.
  • Maintain MSDS documentation for Custodial Supplies.
  • Maintain OSHA compliance for custodial staff.
  • As directed by the Director of Facilities, supervises the total operation of the Facilities Department.
  • Demonstrates positive communication skills.
  • Administers the district’s custodial program in collaboration with site administrators for the benefit of the students by coordinating all activities related to building cleanliness.
  • Works with members of the maintenance staff to coordinate all activities of the two departments to include routine, emergency, and preventive custodial activities, building structures, building service equipment, utilities, sanitation, grounds care, material handling, compliance with building safety, pollution codes, and applicable regulations of governmental agencies, as well as the minimizing of energy expenditures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Vocational or associate degree/certification in maintenance engineering or related degree/certification preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of actual experience may be used as an equivalent for the above.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a supervisor preferred.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity, heating, air conditioning, building construction, and utilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of custodial processes minimum standards required.
  • Knowledge of standards of health and safety matters related to the position.
  • Knowledge of operations of custodial equipment including buffers, strippers, wax machines, etc.
  • Knowledge of effective staff supervision methods.
  • Ability and personality to work with colleagues, parents, as well as other individuals, community groups, and organizations.
  • Experience in purchasing, contract, and bidding procedures.
  
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Year: 12 Month
Salary:  Administrator Range on the District Administrator Salary Schedule - $48,760.00 - $71,232.00 per year
