2023-2024 School Year
Primary Objective: The long-term substitute teacher is responsible for providing classroom instruction to students for a teacher who is absent for an extended period of time. The long-term substitute works the regular hours of the absent classroom teacher during his/her absence.
Essential Functions:
Experience: Applicants must be qualified to teach instructional coursework for middle/high school students.
Compensation: Based upon certification and education (see below)
Assignment Substitute (K-12) - Pay Rate:
$165/daily from day one (1) of the assignment with substitute certification only
$175/daily from day one (1) of the assignment with teacher certification
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Essential Functions:
- Teach subject area according to curriculum guidelines specified by the school district
- Maintain ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students
- Collaborate with other faculty in the delivery of proper instructional approaches, working to serve the various learning styles and needs
- Implement curriculum and instruction in a way consistent with the District's mission statement
- Show empathy for and understanding of students
- Share ideas and observations with students, parents, and colleagues
- Develop with parents and students a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity
- Facilitate resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents
- Assess student performance often and objectively
- Continue intellectual and professional development in primary academic discipline
- Follow guidance and policies established by the Board of Education
- Strong content knowledge
- Ability to make connections with students through words and actions.
- Ability to create and support a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
- Ability to follow and communicate lesson plans left by the permanent teacher
- Ability to create a climate of respect and fairness for all students
- Ability to establish and maintain appropriate classroom behavior/management

- Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal
